Welcome to our Winter Newsletter, which is all about putting pen to paper. We’re delighted to share with you our new notebook cover styles, plus our latest bag design and suggestions on where to visit should you want to immerse yourself in the written word.
You may also have noticed our new logo. Allies Design Studio have cleverly drawn on our rich Art Deco heritage to create a striking marque that reflects our brand beautifully. The changeover will be gradual in keeping with our zero waste philosophy.
HAND PAINTED NOTEBOOK
We spotted Charlie Lee Potter’s beautiful work a few months ago and with a mutual friend in common, made contact to explore the possibility of working together. Charlie has painstakingly matched her Sennelier inks to pick up the tones of our vintage leathers resulting in a covetable limited collection of one of a kind stationery. FIND OUT MORE HERE.
DIARY/NOTEBOOK COVER
This is our third collaboration with Mark and Fold and this year we are offering the perfect leafy green as well as our classic black. With selected swatches of embossed leather from the old family tannery for the limited edition pen loops, these notebook covers fit all A5 notebooks and the Mark and Fold 2020 diary. CIRCLE BAG
Inspired by a 1932 Art Deco poster (seen below), we made multiple sketches of spherical shapes before hand-making the first prototype. Available in luxurious and hard-wearing black bridle leather, with unique vintage print tab linings from the archives, we hope it will become one of our future classics. FIND OUT MORE HERE.
WRITING RELATED PLACES TO GO
Museum of Literature, Ireland
Opening last year in the historic Newman House on St Stephen’s Green, this collection showcases Ireland’s finest story tellers past and present. We especially enjoyed the model of Dublin tracing Joyce’s footsteps and the room devoted to boundary pushing Kate O’Brien, full of her personal belongings.
National Centre for Writing
Recently opened too and in another iconic building is the closer-to-home NCW in Norwich . Dragon Hall hosts regular writers’ workshops, readings and mentoring sessions and is an exciting addition to this UNESCO City of Literature.
